What are the best beaches on the atlantic side of Florida?

We were going to take a trip to Panama City Beach this summer, but found out that the oil spill might spread over towards the gulf side of Florida, and we don’t want to take any chances. So what are the best beaches on the atlantic side of Florida? Or even just on the southeastern coast like into South Carolina? How’s Myrtle Beach? I’m talkin white sand & clear water here people. Thanks!!!

White sand and clear water like the Gulf side…forget it on the Atlantic side. The sand is gritty and water is bluish/brownish most times. Compared to the Gulf side, even the seashell hunting stinks. There’s just too much wave action on the Atlantic side to get the beauty of the Gulf side. Resorts like Myrtle Beach are very popular and it’s hopping there right now. Resort beaches with a good tourist climate in Florida would be Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach. Of course, there’s a ton of smaller beaches between the popular ones, like Folly Beach or Hilton Head in SC, St Simons Island or Sea Island In GA, and a bazillion little beaches in Florida. But you probably won’t get that perfect little tiki bar with the cold drinks and burgers by the seashore. Cocoa Beach would come the closest to matching your desires.

I like St. Augustine beach a lot. Cute little tourist town. Clean blue water.

Ft. Lauderdale is, well, Ft. Lauderdale. still full of frat boys acting like buttholes.
