Do all rooms have hairdryers please. Save on luggage weight.
Do we need "beach shoes" to wade into the sea. Did you enjoy your holiday at this resort. We usually do Caribbean, 9 times in 5 years, plus Egypt, plus Tunisia. First time on Indian Ocean. Your comments would be much appreciated.
Many thanks JB
Hi there, As far as hair dryers maybe try to see if the hotel has a web site, it may tell you on there. Beach shoes, I would recommend you take some. If you are just swimming in the shallows it would be fine bare foot, but if you wanted to go walking to the reef, etc at low tide then you will definately need shoes as there would be sea urchins which you should avoid as it is not a pleasent experience having to dig out hundreds of them out of your feet!! You also get things like Stone fish which skulk near coral and under sand and very difficult to see and they can be deadly. Kenya is beautiful and would suggest you do a safari to a game reserve, either Tsavo or the Serengetti. The beach is great.
Just a word of advice DO NOT wear expensive jewelery, flash money around, cameras, etc. try to keep your cameras and anything that you MUST take out with you descreet. Kenya is a poor country and a lot of unemployment so expensive jewelery, cameras, etc. are easy pickings for them.
Fort Jesus, in Mombasa is worth a visit as well if you are into history.
Try to get the "Lonely Planet guide to Kenya", this could give you endless info and advice. And will also give you some basic words in Swahilli.
Hope this will be of some help to you and hope you have a fantastic time. I am envious, I would love to be going back home!!
If this hotel is in Mombassa, the beach there is beautiful! If it is there, no you would not need any beach shoes. Under the sea, there is no shells or anything rought on the bottom. If you wade very far out ,though, beware of sea urchins! Wouldn’t want to step on one of those. Hope this helps!
