the dreadful day when the Tsunami’s struck the counties around the Indian Ocean ? How did you come to know of it ?
………….
I remember how it happenned . I remember coming back from church and turning on the television . They were showing scenes from the Marina beach in Chennai . The whole beach was cover’d by water , with a few traces of sand . My first tought was that it had something to do because of global warming . Since tsunami’s arent common in my region , news channels couldnt interpret it properly . And then can the worst sight’s . Corpses lying on the sides of the roads . Cars crashed against old buildings . Tree’s uprooted . And then i realised that it was the work of the deadly tidal waver called tsunamis . After seeing that there was a bit of a panic that it might strike again . But thank God it didnt .
I was teaching English in Seoul, South Korea.
One of my students was on his honeymoon in Phuket. They left one day before it hit. He seems like a nice hard working guy. He almost broke down in tears in the classroom because he was just there.
At a family party the whole day.

I was at home for the holidays when the news struck. My holiday mood was silenced and then devastated upon finding out that one of my schoolmates along with her father and uncle were among the ones who perished. I join you all in prayer for all those who were lost and have lost loved ones in this tragedy.

I was on a plane to Tunisia, going on holiday with my (then) housemate… it was so very odd, as we didn’t hear anything about it until about two days later..
We were sitting in the hotel bar, and we saw it on the news, but what was really eerie was the total lack of care from the people surrounding us, who just watched the news impassively, and seemed totally unpeterbed.
It was a sad reminder to me that often, a majority of people seem only to care about global tragedy if they are directly affected in some way.
